JET API 3270, JET API 6530 and JET API MultiHost are JavaTM host access APIs for
use in creating
new web-to-host interfaces to
existing legacy applications. JET API provides access to the IBM
3270 or Tandem/HPE 6530 datastream allowing you to write
Java applets, applications, servlets or
Java Server Pages (JSPs) to replace traditional green screens with contemporary Java
interfaces.
Your new interface can reside on a web server that front ends and interfaces with your legacy
application.
No changes are made to your legacy application.

JET API 3270 offers a JavaTM 3270 host access API. With capability similar to HLLAPI, JET API
incorporates the OHIO (Open Host Interface Objects) interface. The OHIO
interface is easy to use and offers efficiencies both in code and applet size. JET API includes
our JET emulator as the developer window to the host.

A web page has an APPLET tag that names the archive files containing the code for the JET 3270 applet. When a user accesses this page for the first time their browser downloads an archive file from the webserver and installs the JET 3270 code (called "class files") on the user's hard drive. In future, the browser only downloads the code again if a new version is on the web server. The browser runs the JET 3270 code.
At the user's request, or automatically if so configured, JET 3270 makes a connection to the TN3270 server over the TCP/IP network. The user is presented with a host welcome or logon screen. The JET 3270 applet displays to the user data it receives from the host application, and transmits user keystrokes and screens back to the host application as if it were a locally-attached terminal.

As a Java API, JET API MultiHost can be implemented on any Java-enabled web server or client workstation platform. Your new host legacy application interface brings all the benefits of a Java web solution.
JET API is designed for simplicity and ease of use. You can cut & paste from the JET API demos and examples into your own environment. Java application, Servlet, JSP and Java Beans support is included to make development of your new interface even easier.
JET API is performance optimised to offer you the fastest performing new interface possible. It provides the new OHIO interface, and our customers report it is much faster than EHLLAPI. JET API class sizes are small for quick user download and does not include graphics or GUI tools that are resource intensive.
JET API offers a low-cost migration path for legacy applications, while updating the appearance of your user interface. JET API provides a valuable point solution saving you time to design and implement long-term legacy systems strategy.
